This paper aims to study the platonic «communism» as an utopian project which was never carried out. We survey the misnamed platonic communism and its forced relationship, with modern communism, which we analyze in depth. Besides that, by reviewing modern authors, we attempt to compare platonic communism with Marxism, searching for its beginning and causes, as well as its socio-politic aspects. This paper offers the achievements and lacks of the studies on local power in the ancient Kingdom of Valencia during the XIXth century. The breakdown of the Ancien Regime by the liberal revolution is the point of departure. The process of social change started whith the revolution continued ever after the failure of the democratic experience thet begun at 1868. To discuss these topics (not always shared by spanish historians), it would be proposed the analysis of local cases during long-termed periods and a social approach to politics, specially referred to attitudes and action of lower social groups.

The paper provides food for thought on the issue of corruption in Ammianus Marcellinus’ History pointing out the need for revising the criteria of valuation of this phenomenology in order to assess it in modern conceptual terms. As a consequence Ammianus’ Res Gestae have to be analysed moving from the political, economic and social contexts as they stem not only from historiographical sources, but also from the Codes, enabling scholars to test the level of bias of the historian who was stubbornly anchored to the values of tradition that, in his opinion, coincided with the ordo’s privileges.

Urban society seems to have penetrated every corner of France, reducing the object of rural sociology and ethnology to nothing. These disciplines are built on a sharp rural/urban split, reserving the canonical vocabulary of sociology, such as the analysis of social class, for urban settings. Artykuł jest próbą przedstawienia wędkarstwa jako praktyki kulturowej o społecznie – w zasadzie głównie klasowo – różnicującym potencjale. Szczególnie pod tym względem interesujący i znaczący jest przypadek tak zwanej sztucznej muchy – metody, która stanowi wysoce skodyfikowany kulturowo obszar społecznie dystynktywnych znaczeń i działań. Artykuł w głównej mierze odnosi się do faktów poświadczonych dla XIX wieku, kiedy to tworzyły się podstawowe reguły muszkarstwa, które bądź to w postaci zinstytucjonalizowanej, bądź poprzez nieformalne ramy kształtowały prawomocne praktyki sportowego łowienia ryb szlachetnych.
